Yes, BYU offers 4 different public scholarships based on academic achievement. All students, including incoming freshmen, can apply for an academic achievement scholarship with three varying levels:
2 Semesters - Half LDS Tuition
2 Semesters - Full LDS Tuition
8 Semesters - Full LDS Tuition

Hooray! One less thing to worry about! An envelope came from BYU today which opens:
“Congratulations on your excellent preparation, exemplary performance, and impressive record of achievement. The Scholarship Committee is pleased to offer you the Brigham Young Scholarship in the amount of $1,705 for Fall Semester 2005 and $1,705 for Winter Semester 2006.”
