What if I have a third-party scholarship?

Congratulations! Third-party scholarships, if not restricted by the offering party, are added as funds to an account administered by the Scholarship office at BYU. If you also have received a scholarship from BYU, these funds are also added to this account.

All single (yes you freshman… joking!) are required to live in approved housing, whether on- or off-campus. This is to give all students the further opportunity to adhere to the Honor Code. There are several off-campus housing locations available, simply do a Google search for them or go to the BYU Off-Campus page.

Do I need to submit senior year grades?

No! No no halelujah no!

What classes should I take in high school?

Recommendations for high school classes are as follows:

4+ years of English
3-4 years of Mathematics (2-3 years beyond Algebra 1)
2-3 years of laboratory science (chemistry, physics, biology, etc.)
2 years of history or government
2+ years of a foreign language (advanced skill in one language preferred)
2 years of literature or writing

How important is seminary in the selection process?

Seminary counts as part of the 1/3 non-academic related portion of the selection process. The other 2/3 are ACT score and High school GPA, while Seminary is put together with AP classes, extra-curricular activities, etc.
But don’t take this too lightly - if you don’t graduate from seminary, you don’t get into BYU!

Why do they ask for an unweighted GPA?
