Anyone can get them or have them, they are not picky and though it is uncommon you might at least want to make sure whatever is in your bed is not them. Controlling bed bugs can be done by at home methods but is not as easy as finding someone who can come to your home and do it for you. I know though when I had someone out to do the ants he couldn’t find the nest and was there forever looking for it, he never did find and kill them. I put out ant traps and in a week they all died. They were carpenter ants and that is why they certainly could not stay around. I used the traps that makes them track poisons back to their nests.
