Safety Recommendations from your Alsip Pediatrician

    July 23rd, 2010 by admin

Unfortunately, many parents do not follow wimple rules that help safe keep a toddler,  A toddler should be in a car seat that is back seat facing backwards until he is 12 months old AND 20 pounds.  After those two conditions are met, he can face forward in the backseat, or continue to face backwards until he reaches the seat’s weight limit.  In addition to having covers on electrical outlets, latches on cabinets, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, etc., parents should remove climbing hazards from your home.

Use wall anchors to keep large appliances and furniture from tipping over if your child climbs on them.   Place childproof covers on door knobs to make sure that your toddler can’t get out of the house on his own or into rooms that aren’t childproofed. Contact your local Alsip pediatrician to get your questions anwered.
