Surfing: the History of Women

When women think about sports, surely there are specific women within that sport who stand out the most. In surfing, two of those women would be Eve Fletcher and Anona Napoleon, who were surfing women in the 1950s and 1960s, which was when surfing had mostly male competitors. Both competed in surfing and Napoleon happened to win a Championship in a women’s division just a year after she had been in a diving accident. Regardless of the fact that women were still not entirely accepted in roles that were considered to be male, these two women, and many more, still pursued their dream of riding the waves.
